Americain has been given topweight for his Melbourne Cup defence.
Americain has been asked to carry 58kg, an increase of 3.5kg on the weight he carried to victory over Maluckyday last year.
The French-trained stayer is one of three international entries at the top of the weights with 2010 Breeders Cup Turf winner Dangerous Midge given 57.5kg and the United Kingdom-trained Jukebox Jury weighted on 57kg.
Shamrocker, who heads latest betting on the $6.2 million race, has 52kg while Maluckyday has 54kg.
The highest-weighted Australian entry is last year’s Caulfield Cup winner Descarado with 56kg.
Americain is in quarantine in England and is scheduled to arrive in Australia on September 24.
The Melbourne Cup will be run at Flemington on November 1.
